Our Story
Green Shoots Cymru is the creation of Cardiff-based Location Manager - Hannah James-Johnson, and combines her expertise in Location Management with her personal and professional passion for sustainability.
After working across both Wales and Aotearoa New Zealand in the screen industry, it became increasingly clear to Hannah that we as an industry needed to work towards a better future that could sustain both the creative workforce, and the places we film in.
Often dismissed as 'Scope 3' or not captured, our impact from Location filming can be enormous and we hope to build something that addresses this for us here in Wales.
Our Goals
Our goals are ever evolving, but we hope to support and promote productions in South Wales with sustainable location filming in the following ways:
LOCAL - SCALED DOWN - REALISTIC - REPEATABLE - JUST
Reduce travel of productions, with clusters of locations supported by local suppliers and community resources.
Spread the financial and social benefits of filming to more communities across Wales, and ensure no one area is getting hit too hard with film crews.
Empowering, assisting and informing productions of ALL sizes, to give crew practical and realistic ways to help reduce waste, emissions and environmental impact.
Promote Wales as a filming destination, and help build the industry into one that will sustain our creative community for many years to come.
